Pours a rich, oily blackish brown with a dense tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel and roasted malts with some molasses and dark fruits. Body starts rich and sugary sweet with good malty complexity and a nice balance of lager yeast. Very smooth, despite its viscosity, and it hides its alcohol quite well. An excellent baltic porter!

Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown, oildy. Grapy, roasty nose, quite malty and sweet. Very sugary intiial flavor, nicely smooth and silky throughout, bittersweet chocolate roastiness develops late. Very nice, though I guess I’m not loving it as much as most.

Gravity Head 2004/NABC: Deep brown hue with ruby highlights that produces a small thick tan head and very good lace. The aroma is heavy caramel and burnt malts, mocha and molasses, slightly piney and aromatic hops, apple and currents, dirty yeast esters. The taste starts with a heavy bittersweet mocha and tart fruity nature, big malts and acidic tones, well balanced for all that's is there. Nice smoky, vanilla, herbal, and nutty undertones. A thick, soft, and lush mouthfeel. The alcohol is well hidden. This is one ass kicking porter, I loved it, much more complex that most. YUMMY!

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of fine to medium sized light brown colored frothy mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a dark ruby red brown colored semi-transparent body with no visible carbonation and a fair lacing. The aroma was very mild with subtle malty notes. The mouth feel was initially smooth with a mild tingle in a finish that contained a malty bite to it/ The flavor was sweet with roasty dark malty notes.

Draft at Rich O’s in New Alban, IN. Small tan head, good lacing, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Malty, sweet, roasty aroma. Sweet, malty, smooth, and a little acidic. Smooth mouthfeel.

at GTMW ’09. pours amber with white head. nose is oxidized, port, green apple, and dark fruit. flavor is dry, grape, and rather scotchy, with raisin finish.

sampled on cask brown pour translucent, soapy head. most aroma came from the barreling, hints of vanilla overly alcoholic. Avg pal. a light sour funk that made me think infection along w/ over barreling are the big characteristics.. Not very good.

A World Class beer in my opinion. Poured dark brown with a full tan head. Malty and lightly roasty with an excellent flavor. Very good.
