| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 21, 2004 Sparkling clear copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki-colored head. Good retention with ink-blot lacing. Caramely and chocolatey nose and flavor with subtle notes of straw. Well-balanced. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish that leaves the mouth feeling very dry. beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 10, 2003 Nice off-white head which is slightly creamy on top. Decent carbonation. Aroma is a little weak in the stout portion. Aroma predominantly of an amber or brown beer. A little sweet and malty with a touch of grain. No roasted smell that you would expect. Color is a beautiful deep red mahagony. Flavor is a little sweet and not very strong. More malt and a little hops presence. Finish is pretty clean with a slightly dry and bitter aftertaste. A decent beer but a little light on the stout portion in aroma and flavor. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC) A combination of their stout and amber lager, from the looks of it, there doesn’t seem to be much stout in here. It pours a ruddy, light brown color, quite a bit lighter than I expected from a black and tan, and is topped by a light tan head that quickly fades to a rim. Lightly malty and sweet, very gently roasty, perhaps a bit nutty, and balanced with some mild bitterness, this is what it is, a nice, moderately flavorful, no frills brown lager. The nose mirrors the flavor, lightly malty with a very modest amount of roast coming through. Light to medium bodied. Overall, this black and tan is mostly tan, but so what, this is a pleasant and enjoyable brew to grab out of the fridge when you just want a beer. karl (159), Glendale, New York, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2004 This beer poured a murky reddish brown with no head at all. Aroma is faint dark malts. Flavor is a little flat with a hint of chocolate and coffee. A slight bitterness exists in the aftertaste. A pretty standard black and tan and I will actually say Michelob Black and Tan is better than this. Overall decent but pretty weak. Aurelius (2654), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 4, 2002 I really didn’t care much for the aroma of this beer at first, but it got better as the carbonation left a bit. Sort of amaretto and yucky grain smell. This is a sweet beer, not much in the stout portion, and actually almost favors an alt or brown. The flavor is decent but fairly unremarkable. For the NY regionals, Brooklyn Brewery’s got them beat hands down. Not bad though.
