the term IPA loosely for this one,
but I’m not complaining. This was
an interesting and complex beer. It
had a big malt presence, with toffee
and caramel flavors. Only moderately bitter,
but with some interesting hop flavors: spicy,
citrusy, and floral. guzzler67 (1286), Hanover, Maryland, USA

Tasty roasted malt flavor with a bit of sweetness. Hops become more pronounced as it warms, but not to the extent of many American style IPA's. Smooth, malty finish. Bov (5495), Bienne, Switzerland

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2001 I suppose an English style IPA since the hop profile was a bit restrained. A very good beer overall, however. Silky smooth going down; biscuit-like malty flavor; finishes with a crisp, subtle citrus hop flavor. Another strong New Amsterdam brew! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2003 Clear gold with a slightly grayish sticky head. Not much nose, but what's there has toffee notes. The description of the beer mentions Centennial and Cascade hops; don't get them at all. Very much a British-style IPA, with a toffee-butterscotch character. Finishes slightly sweet, which accents the toffee nicely. Pretty good stuff. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2002 Nice orange body with a medium eggshell-white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Floral aroma with some honey, relatively restrained. Flavor is tame, definitely not an American-styled IPA. The sweet maltiness is more noticeable than the hops. But the hops are there, floral and slightly citrusy. Slight bitter aftertaste. Good solid body, slightly chewy.
