A decent amber ale, a nice amber body that did not have much of a head. Aroma had big pine notes snf dome caramel notes, but mostly hops. Flavor was good but one dementional hop flavor with some caramel notes. A smooth but very thin finish. A good session beer. SudsMcDuff (1693), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 2, 2005 My bottle has a green label, not gold like in picture. Also has XXX on either side of the "New York Ale" writing. Anyhow.
Pours a bit clouded brown with no head. Aroma is malty. Flavor is malt, caramel, no hops evident - bottle age unknown, but based on markings on the bottom, I’d say 2002. Probably drinkable when it’s fresh, but not now... I have another beer waiting for me this evening, the rest of this one is going down the drain.
My local store has these in stock for some reason, but it seems that every beer I’ve had (including this one) out of their "bargain bin" has been poured down the drain after rating it. Some bargain, eh? badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
