Crash (431), Macomb, Illinois, USA Jun 22, 2007 I got this beer in a mix-a-six and only had one. I drank it and wrote down a score but, didn’t put down my thought and then was called away. By the time I remember about finishing, I didn’t remember my thoughts. Old Age?
thejoeshow (110), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 31, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a rich golden amber color with a very nice frothy white head that has great retention and wonderful lacing. There is a nice aroma to this beer. There is a more pronounced hop presence that you don’t usually find in NB beers and then there is the signature toasty bread aroma mixed in there as well as a slight spicey note. Very nice flavor. There is a nice floral flavor mixed with a slight caramel flavor. Lots of malts and as par for the New Belgium course, very complex. This is a great choice for a winter seasonal. It has bold flavor and has a bit of that "warming" effect you tend to associate with winter brews. I suggest you try this if you haven’t already. brokephibroke (37), , Colorado, USA Aug 25, 2008 Crystal amber pour with a thick tan head. Malt and spice dominate the aroma. Nice taste, caramel with a great balance of hops and malt. The palate is smooth with a great bitter finish. Jarrid (18), Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA Aug 23, 2008 Not a big fan of the 2 Below Winter Ale, but I do not regret trying it out. It had a decent taste to it, and I enjoyed the whole twelve-pack with a buddy of mine on a nice crisp day. This is something I will usually not pick up, though. blankboy (2570), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 12, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Kevin. Pours a clear copper-orange with an average size somewhat-lasting fluffy off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel malt, light herbal hops, spices and something else I have a hard time placing, it’s a biscuity something, best I can do. Flavour of toasted caramel malt, fruit, spices and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, I couldn’t really figure out what style it was trying to be but either way, I liked it. spikester (413), Salem, Oregon, USA Jun 30, 2008 Hazy amber with cream color one inch head. Lots of lacing. Big floral and earthy aroma. Taste is rich hops and plenty of sweet roasted malts. Hop flavors are very nice in this brew. The 6.6% abv is not obvious. Easy drinker and quite pleasant beer.
