Commercial Description:
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

This was my first winter ale. I have to say I enjoyed it, and I liked how it was hoppy, and you could definitely taste the spice. Put me in a winter mood!

Good aroma, nice copper color, light head, but the taste let me down. I was expecting more body with the 6.6% alc. content. Definitely not a bad beer, just didn’t balance the hop and malt that well for my taste.

Bottle. Pour is clear copper with a small head. Light malt and hop in the aroma. Flavor is very smooth caramel malt and hop finish with a little pepper. Its solid.

Amber color. Hoppy nose, floral, not citrus. Some malty notes that lean toward a chocolatey taste at first, but followed by a lovely pine flavored hoppy finish. I wasn’t sure what style this would be, and I’m not sure it is a perfect fit as a premium ESB, but I’m not sure where else to put it. Thought it might be an APA or even a weaker ASA. Wherever it’s classified, I like it.

Bronze in the glass. Not much head, not much lacing but I think thats the style. The beer is almost lost everything i seems. I don’t know if it was the process. I like the hops but I have to stretch to taste or smell them. Good overall. I think it could have been great if something just would have changed. Maybe it’s that Im drinking it at such a cold just not flavorful temp.

Pours a dark golden with a medium head. Aroma of bread, nuts, and floral hops. Sweet malt up front with a nice bitterness and a hint of bread; slight alcohol in the finish. Medium body, not bad at all.

Nice crisp tawny brown color with shallow head. Strong hop aroma - citrusy but flavor profile is very nutty and caramelly. Whole lot going on in this one.

12 oz bottle. Light amber color, pretty good head. Aroma is bready, with malts and light herbal hops. Flavor is mild roasted malts, touch of floral hop bitterness, and finishes with a more herbal hoppiness that is reminiscent of a white tea. Sort of unexpected. Pretty good session beer, easy to drink, pleasant.
