Commercial Description:
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

2° Below, rated on a balmy 60° February afternoon. Irony. Reddish golden with a nice, frothy off-white head. Nice retention. Floral hop nose up front with a moderate amount of pine underneath. Moderate biting hop flavor, resiny bitterness builds nicely throughout the flavor profile. Finish is only lightly bitter, lightly sweet with caramel maltiness. Really well done.

Crushed with Jakebra. Whatever I gave Fat Tire, I give this one .1 better. Poop hops and poop otherwise, but not the most offensive poop I’ve ever had. Fat Tire minus some poop.

Bottle from Bottleworks. Not much aroma but pours with a nice lingering cream head. Has a nice medium sweet taste.

Strong hoppy flavors. Feels lighter than normal winter ales but still warms the belly. Overall good beer.

greatness. i look forward to this beer every year. tastes nothing like it smells (amber) or looks (amber). everything about this beer’s initial impression screams FAT TIRE PART 2. not the case. 2 BELOW is far sweeter, much deeper, completely complexier than at first glance. fine lacing on the glass proves that the flavor refuses to surrender. lots of chocolate with a slight hop bitterness to tickle the sides of the tongue washes out with sweetly smooth mouthfeel, lingering around the backhalls of the jawline like the fingers of the beer along the glass edge. this beer is hard to take in moderation.

Nice orange-red color with a foamy, thick white head. Smells alright, hmm. Tastes liek a little hops then some maltiness, good and seems hoppy for an ESB which is just fine with me. Overall quite easy to drink and a nice beer to drink while shooting a game of pool which is exactly what I did. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 01-09-2009 04:30:05

Like your typical amber beer with slightly more hops. Fairly boring if drinkable.

Pours an amber brown with a medium head. Aroma hoppy floral and light citrus. Backed by pale and caramel maltiness. Flavour has a good dose of that almost floral holiness again. Gods medium malt body, with a nutty spiceness.
