Commercial Description:
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Clear coppery in appearance. Interesting creamy orange in flavor. It reminds me of a Orange Push-Up but not as sweet. Finishes on the palate with slight hoppy bitterness. Average yeasty malty aroma. Not too bad but nothing outstanding other than the curious orange and cream flavor which I have never tasted in a beer.

Bottle. Pours a light clear amber with a 3 finger creamy white head that leaves delicate lacing. Nose is malt and earthy hops. Taste matches the aroma for the most part. Medium mouth feel. Decent seasonal.

Bottle from Sun Devil. This is one strange ESB, but I am finding a lot of those lately. I was ready to call this a Pink Ale, because it is not a pale and falls just shy of a red in terms of intensity. Hops are not as present as promised, with smooth malt balancing them out. Shy fruit.

Slightly hazy copper color pour with a frothy white head that lasts a while. Aroma of roasted malt and spicy hops. Nice malty flavor with a touch of caramel and citrus and a good bite on the finish. Pretty good.

Tap at City beer, SF. Slight hazy orange color, short white head. Aroma of caramel malt, quite some hop, bit floral. Decent bitter taste, malty body. Decent stuff.

12 oz. bottle. poured a clear dark amber color with rocky white head. has aroma of floral citrus and and toasted white bread. starts out with a dominant toasted malt bread bisquit and wild flower flavor. has a medium bodied mouthfeel and will continue throughout, with that trademark toasted bread malt backbone. Nice dry hopped aroma of orange and milk chocolate

Poured amber with a nice sized tan head. Hoppy aroma. Taste of grapefruit hoppiness, but not too bitter. Some caramel and a touch of rye. Nice balance. A bit different for a winter ale, but I liked it. Will try again.

Sweet Bread aroma, light brown honey color, flavor is hoppy and full with a slight ’zing’, wonderful when really cold.
