Commercial Description:
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Aroma headed up with piney hops, some banana and apple fruitiness, honey and buttterscotch malts. Slighty minty, peppermint. Toasted malts up front (similar to fat tire) in the flavor. Piney hops with spice backing (cinnamin, black pepper, mint). Finish is sweet and substantial. Palate has a buttery texture. Some dryness that mellows in finish.

This is very enjoyable. Very nice hop characteristics balanced nicely with some light malts. Hoppy aroma and flavor. Bitter on the palate. Crystal clear orange gold.

Served cold from 12oz bottle. Poured amber/gold with a nice white head. Aroma is floral hops. Taste is very good, I think. Light-bodied, good malt/hop mixture with a strong hop finish. I was expecting middle-of-the-road, and I found something that I would call above average. A fine winter seasonal.

This is a really interesting beer. It is light in body, but full of flavor. I like the hop back-end. It is so clear too. I am drinking this while watching footall and the hoppy belch that filled my nostrils makes me happy.

2008 Bottle - Better than last years, pours amber with a medium head, aroma is malt and fruit?, flavour is decently bitter, nutty and lightly malted...not bad, well hidden alcohol, hopefully will keep getting better every year..

Not very good. Light hops and very little malt. It is kind of a mess, with an odd flavor of grain. Light brown color.
