Pours a wonderful shade of dark amber with a thick tan head that was full of carbonation and stuck around for most of the beer, leaving heavy lacing in the glass. Taste was filled with toasted malt, caramel, spices, and hops. It started off sweet and malty and quickly faded in the crisp, tart, and clean flavor of hops. Another enjoyable beer from New Belgium that I would recommend to people. jimhilt (1687), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Pours a five finger rocky cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Crystal clear amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Slight hoppy nose. Flavor is not as hoppy as brewer says, not the usual ESB, hints of sweetness, very drinkable. $1.49 for a 12oz bottle from John’s Marketplace Portland, OR. dmac (1488), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2008 12 oz bottle from lb4lb, thanks Deniz. Pours a reddish copper with a large frothy white head. Spicy aroma with notes of hops, citrus, chocolate, nutmeg and slight earth. Mediium bodied with aggresive carbonation. Very spicey flavor with notes of citrus and chocolate. This beer is your run of the mill spicey witer seasonal, just enough spice to make this beer go from average to a step below. travita (1927), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Copper color with a good head. Some hoppy flavors. Feels lighter than normal winter ales but still warms the belly, so why an ESB for a winter beer? Decent beer.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Toasty malts and raisins on the nose. Deep copper with reddish hues. Was nutty sweet, with a pronounced, yet mild, roasted flavor. Decent hop balance, but the finish is nice and long with a complex mix of flavors delivering over and over. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Deceptively complex beer, best off tap and best (counterintuitively) when freezing cold on a freezing cold day. Seemed to lose rather than gain character when warmed. Extremely drinkable and pleasant, not too much on the hops. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
