Commercial Description:
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

12 oz. amber pour from bottle. Flowery nose. Warm, spicy taste with a dry, light hop finish. Decent, but not great. Still, I would drink this again.

(bottle). Clear amber color. Small off white head. Light malt aroma. Sweet malt (caramel) flavor. Avg duration. Smooth finish. Thin texture. Moderate carbonation. Fair lacing.

A decent Ale, nothing spectacular. I didn’t lke it at first because of a dry after taste but it kind of grew on me. Not one I would buy again but then again I’m not much of an ale fan.

Pours amber with a white head. Tastes like cinnamon, malt, and hops. Not particularly memorable.

On tap at the Malt House: Pretty decent beer overall. But the malt profile is very upfront. Pours a clear copper colour with a large white head. Noticeable cinnamon and apple on the palate. Aroma is pleasent and sweet with some fruitiness to it. Decent hops and subtle caramel midpalate.

Number 100! Tap. A nice looking ale. A deep amber color is topped with a white head. Fruit and hops dominate the aroma. A nice hoppy flavor. Overall a good brew.

This was my first winter ale. I have to say I enjoyed it, and I liked how it was hoppy, and you could definitely taste the spice. Put me in a winter mood!

Good aroma, nice copper color, light head, but the taste let me down. I was expecting more body with the 6.6% alc. content. Definitely not a bad beer, just didn’t balance the hop and malt that well for my taste.
