Commercial Description:
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Twelve ounce bottle pours clear orange, like dark apple cider, with a small off-white head. Aroma is faint grasses. Flavor contains biscuit, fruity... lime / juniper hops, and a touch of slightly spicy licorice. Finish is a little citrus hoppy and a little stringently dry.

I had this on tap at a local pub. Pours golden color with nice off-white head. nice citrusy and floral hop aroma. Taste is citrusy and floral, as well, ending in a nice, clean finish. This is definitely a good sessionable beer for the Winter.

golden amber with decent off white head. flavors and aromas dominated with chocolates, orange, alcohol and a caramel malt, with a strong spicy floral hop bitterness in the background. might not be true to the style, but great drinking as a beer

Pretty good stuff. Golden in color with a thin eggshell head. I picked this up at the store because I had never had it and the old lady opened it and started drinking it from the bottle. I appreciate her willingness to try new things, but keep me in the loop here. I like a higher abv beer from New Belgium. I like how the sips seemed to alternate from a hearty maltiness to a crisp, sweet hop flavor. Kinda thin on the tongue. I agree with many of the raters that this is an awkward take on the style, but I liked it for what it was.

Pours a golden amber with a pretty decent full white head with good retention. Aroma is hop flowers and malt. Sweet roasted malt flavor with notes of maple and caramel, spices and hop bitterness at the end. Interesting beer. Seasonal perhaps, but this ale would be good year round.

Wonderful hop aroma with citrus and spice. Gold to orange color with a big head that thins out after a short time. Complex taste...sweet, malty, bitter (hop and other). Long finish and good mouthfeel.

My personal favorite. Obvious dry hoppiness. In my experience its a much better beer on tap than from a bottle. Also better to take in a globe glass or a snifter. The aroma dominates the head and enhances the experience.

On tap at O’Brians. Clear light golden with white fizzy head. Malty citrus aroma and taste with hints of pine and a crisp finish.
