| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Mediocre. Deep amber with very little head. Weak aroma. Malt and a bit of grapefruit in the flavor. Very dry finish. But all in all not much to it; weak body, light non-descript flavor. dkoonce (888), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Mild, nutty, almost chocolate aroma. Pours a clear amber, with a thin, loose head that laces well. Listed as an ESB, and for most of the experience I’d agree - smooth with a medium body. But, there’s a tart Belgian yeast twang that carries across the whole flavor profile. In the end, it’s not Belgian and not an ESB - Somewhere in between. poisoneddwarf (199), Rathdrum, Idaho, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2009 12 oz bottle. Piney hop aroma, some hay, some caramel malt. Pours golden iwth minimal head, good lacing. Tastes of cereal grains, hops. A little thin, a little watery. Kind of sweet--surprising considering the piney hop aroma. Different kind of winter brew. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 13, 2009 This is a very doughy and yeast-flavored beer. There is a banana flavor and a slight bit of pepper taste to spice things up. Skunky - I see that over in the list of possible choices. Might be used for several of the New Belgium’s that I’ve tried. madvike (343), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Bottle - Pours amber with a big frothy head. Smells slightly spicy with a nice hop bitterness. Taste is mostly the same -- bitter, citrusy, and a bit nutty. Smooth and carbonated. This beer isn’t remarkable, but pleasant nonetheless. esjaygee (1537), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Clear amber with a small airy quickly dissolving off-white head with patchy lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, noble hops and mild fruit. Taste of noble hops, grains and light fruitiness. Finishes mildly bitter. Boring. brenn79 (201), Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2009 12 oz. bottle- Pours golden amber with little head and good lacing, aroma is malt and bitter hops. The flavor at first is very malty, but then later the bitter hops come through, especially after the swallow. So far nobody has topped Widmer Brrr, we will see if Sierra Nevada or Alaskan can deliver. cathcacr (589), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Aroma of a mild-black-IPA as weird as that sounds, with touches of cinnamon or nutmeg spice. Appearance like that of a Stone IPA, nice head retention. Flavor is good but doesn’t give me much to work with descriptiveness-wise, just a general beery bittersweetness, with extra sweetness. Palate-wise, goes down REEEEAAAL SMOOOOOV.
