Jun 9, 2008 In short: A sweet spicy Belgian-candy beer. More like a light Belgian Christmas beer than a Abbey Dubbel. Not bad, not a Dubbel, not worth it.
How: Bottle 12oz, from BeerAndBlues2, thanks a lot Brad! Drank some 6 months after the trade so the bottle probably was about 1 year old.
The look: Clear ruby body with a medium beige of head
In long: A unusual mix of flavours for a so-called Abbey Dubbel. Barley candies, bananas, cloves, dark grapes, cinnamon and some cherries. Body is a bit slimy/sticky and with some kind of tar feeling (not a compliment). Finish has some cherries sourness and barley candies sweetness. Not a bad really but this is not Abbey Dubbel. I prefer Abbey Dubbels from Old Belgium, you know, that 12,000 square-miles brewery.

Jun 9, 2008 My bottle (355ml) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of Kevin. Pours a clear deep orange-amber with an average size semi-lasting tan head. Aroma of banana, other fruit, sugary sweetness, light spices and alcohol -- too candy sweet for my liking. Flavour of caramel malt, Belgian yeast, candi sugar and alcohol. Light bitter finish. Average bodied. It’s not bad but I personally do not care for it.

Jun 9, 2008 Pours a brownish red with a large tan head. Aroma of banana, spices, yeast, and caramel. Flavor is banana, caramel, yeast, rasins, bread. Pretty tasty, but not something i’d seek out again.

Jun 4, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Shared by blankboy with garthicus. Clear ruby-amber with a small wispy beige head. Aroma of banana, cloves, sweet caramel malt, sweet yeast and a hint of spoiled milk. Taste follows, softer, no milk, with peach and apple, slightly dry spice - really smooth. Average lightly syrupy body, spicy and a hint of alcohol in the finish. Really dig the taste.

May 31, 2008 Pours a very dark clear amber with a small beige froth on top. Sweet caramel apple, raisin and grape aroma, tootsie roll, belgian yeast. Very straight forward flavor, almost like a doppelbock. Rich dark malt flavor, some grape and raisins. Sweet caramel apple finish with a touch of yeast. Medium body, watery, light carbonation, slightly syrupy.

May 23, 2008 12 oz bottle from lb4lb, thanks Deniz. Pours a deep mahogany, so what if I took that description from the label it’s pretty acurate, with an average size foamy light beige head. Aroma of toffee, raisin, bread and plums. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a creamy finish. Flavor is actually a step down from the aroma with lots of yeast, grainy malts and only slight fruitiness present. An average beer for an average beer drinker.
