MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 8, 2003 Thin misty biscuits in somewhat cheap toffee...Dried caramel and a hint of bad cough syrup...This comparison with the Pater Lieven Bruin was quite boring, but I suspect this sample was a bit off...
hop_lover (139), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 I think I’m just not a dubble kinda guy. I like the tripple but this was way too bubbly and sweet. drjay44 (125), USA Aug 31, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice creamy which settles into a thin foam, nice dark brownish color with some reddish hues, nose is malty, yeasty, minimal spice, initial taste is flat then malt, yeast and mild hop bitter come in, pleasant but slight metallic finish. Mouth feel O.K. ajm (331), USA Aug 30, 2008 Better with warmth. Bottle from Kelly. A respectable ruby brown color, but looks un-glossy like an American Strong. A respectable flavor of dull raisin and yeast, plus flour and sugar substitute. Once I finish the six pack, probably done with it. beerdad (45), Kansas, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottled. Pours brownish-red with a medium off-white head. Smells of roasty malt, nutmeg and yeast. It has a bite from the alcohol and carbonation, but is very smooth. Tastes of yeast/bread and grapefruit. A pretty good beer. Lubiere (3250), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 25, 2008 A dark clear brown ale with a thick frothy lacing moka head. A fruity malt with esters of banana and malt, orange peels and cloves. In mouth, an intense sweet ale with solvent like qualities and alcohol warmth. Tasted August 2007.
