ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Feb 1, 2004 Updated: Oct 3, 2007 2003 bottle. Nice dark, earth brown color. Says its bottle conditioned, but I’m not seeing any sediment. I’ll take their word for it, but it was fairly clear. Aroma has a slight hint of vinegar. I liked that, light malt sweetness. Flavor is pretty stereotypical (but good) for a abbey dubbel. Medium body, earthiness and some light brown sugar. Some slight brown bread and that New Belgium yeast flavor. Touches of spice on the finish. This is a very delicate beer. Elegant and well-made. Thanks for the bottle, Mike (BBB63)
BOLTZ7555 (515), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 17, 2008 Garnet colored...impressive off-white creamy head. Nuttiness, dark fruit, caramel and brown sugar on the nose. You can definitely taste it’s Belgian influences but it just doesn’t stand up to the smaller batch beers in terms of complexity. A nice transitional brew. Inexpensive and tasty, but not amazing. esjaygee (808), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 12, 2008 Mahogany with a medium off-white head. Aroma of fruit, brown sugar, nuts and bubblegum. Taste of brown sugar, nuts, toffee and fruit. Semi-dry nutty finish. stchloe (197), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 11, 2008 Brewed in large quantities reduces the Belgian ale-ness. However, thats makes me like this beer a bit more than others of similar style. badlizard (1519), San Diego, California, USA Sep 10, 2008 On tap at brewery. Golden brown with a fizzy tan head. Malty raisin aroma and taste, but nothing special. hop_lover (147), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 I think I’m just not a dubble kinda guy. I like the tripple but this was way too bubbly and sweet.
