GranvilleTim (475), Granville, Illinois, USA Nov 17, 2009 Red amber pour with off-white head. Aroma of sourness and citrus. Taste is O.K.- little sour and citrus/orange flavor. Nothing really dominant/ jumping out at me. Little dry aftertaste that has a citrus tang to it. IrishBoy (2704), Bakersfield, California, USA Nov 13, 2009 Bomber from Supermarket Liquors, Cheyenne. Nose kind of lightly vegetal and funky with some light spices mixed in. Clear bright orange with a medium off white head. Flavor is spicy with a tiny bit of bitterness. Tastes much better than it smells. ElGaucho56 (389), USA Nov 12, 2009 22 oz bomber, under the Lips of Faith series. Pours a quite nice ruby-golden tinge with a decent head and chunky lacing. Nose very hay-like with citrus peel undertones. Both become more prevalent on the palate, although the body is lacking. Some definite unwanted oxidation in the flavor, along crisp lemon, clover honey, and medicinal hop bitterness. Very mild brett strain. Not bad, grew on me a little as I sampled it. drpimento (808), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Nov 10, 2009 Thanks to friend Paul B for this sample. Follows more or less the the objective description listed here. Poured with a nice white head and good lace. Color is almost clear medium yellow. Aroma is spicy, malty, honey, herbal; nice. Flavor is about the same. Decent brew. Good finish. Slightly boozy. Drinkable. jhumphries69 (722), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Nov 10, 2009 22oz bomber. Pours a clear orangey-gold with a medium-thin off-white head. The aroma is crisp and somewhat grainy with a subtle note of cider, subtle brett funk (at first - this faded after a few sniffs and a few sips), and some deeper malt notes. The flavor starts somewhat cidery but then layers of velvety malts enter. There is a subtle muffin-doughy/yeasty spiciness (cloves/phenols). The main character is a smooth and consistent malt backbone. The finish is crisp and somewhat dry with a malty and slightly grainy aftertaste. Bitterness is soft (balancing) and neutral in character. No real hop character. The mouthfeel is crisp and medium-bodied. Overall, this is a very drinkable beer - solid. It isn’t particularly interesting or complex, but is still a tasty brew. raradel (33), Greenville, South Carolina, USA Nov 10, 2009 To preface my comments, this is my first experience with a "biere de mars" so I am inexperienced in this instance. The pour is nice and inviting, but the aroma is a little stinky, but not too stinky that I wont drink it. The flavors are light and citric but not overwhelming. Palate is rather clean for the higher ABV and as usual New Belgium has gotten me to buy it so they are doing something right. Give it a try if you are in warmer climates. SSSteve (2052), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 9, 2009 22oz bottle. "lips of faith" series. a very nice looking beer with a clear appearance under a small frothy white head. musty, green olive, light peachy aroma. bretty, green olive, basement dank flavors but on the light side. crisp, light and dry palate. refreshing. a bit thin. Narnad (689), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Nov 5, 2009 Sold as the Lips of Faith series. Pours an orange color with a dense white head. Aroma has a nice toasted note, light clove, some soured malt nose and a very acidic note. Flavor has a modest Brett bite, some husky grain presence, apple and lemon fruity note and with a light earthy ending. Moderate body, light texture with a very solid lacing left on the glass. Overall, for the price, this brew definitely falls short. Flavors are good but meld creating only an okay brew. Definitely not something that I want to get again.
