BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Feb 13, 2005 On tap, hazy orange gold colour. Off white head. Aromas of lemons and herbs. The taste is lightly sweet up front, and is quite crisp and clean. Some subtle notes of herbal lemon. Nice, crisp. Why is this a winter beer? A would love this in the summer. highalphafan (18), albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Feb 13, 2005 2005..are we doing that with this beer? I’ll start by saying that I’ve looked forward to this one each year since first buying it. As with most NB beers (I haven’t had La Folie), I find that I slam dunk (dump?) the thing into their own "worthy" glass to attain any head at all, let alone the two finger’s width their website advises one to acheive. Not to worry though, by my own admission I like the brewery enough to have purchased said glass. Anyway, this white head I struggled to create, dissipated quickly leaving me to taste this year’s batch. Wheaty aroma with an orange zest highlight. Very full body, which is quite pleasing. Tastes of citrus and a bagel with cream cheese? Sounds funny, but that’s what I’m getting here. This one is always fun and worth the purchase. flutetokill (515), Fresno, California, USA Feb 12, 2005 Cloudy copper color with a small white head. Nice mild lemon, honey, grass and spice aroma. Crisp feel with a fairly dry finish. loweredsixth (942), Fresno, California, USA Feb 12, 2005 Hazy copper color with a small off-white head. The aroma and flavor were filled with earthy tones...grass, old wood, and soil...also lemons, spices, animal fur, and sweet yeasty tones. The feel was quite crisp with a dry finish. Nice. Ray1975 (251), Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, USA Feb 10, 2005 pours a hazy orangish color with a small head. aroma is of Lemon, horse hair, and sweet malt. Flavor is a bit of sweet malt and citrus bitter and some light hops. egajdzis (3598), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 8, 2005 Poured a hazy, reddish orange color with a small off white head that quickly diminished leaving . Aroma of lots of citrus, light funky barnyard, grass, lemon, and yeast. More grassy hoppiness, lemon, orange and other citrus tastes. Yeasty, but no alcohol in the finish. bkelley68 (467), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Feb 7, 2005 Yum! Dirty orange pour, decent off-white head. Great complex aroma, with sweet malt, fresh hay, and citrus highlights. Smooth carbonation, with a very nice malt profile that is just ever so slightly sweet, along with some citrus and intresting yeasty flavors. Very balanced and tasty throughout. I really want to be able to get this stuff all the time. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA Feb 6, 2005 beer pours a very hazy, orangish color with a big fluffy white head that doesn’t retain so well, but leaves a lot of lace. aroma is huge, with citric notes dominant, but some subtler barnyard and grassy/hay notes underneath. flavor is very nice-a crisp maltiness with some sweetness, a light hop presence, and a nice tang from the yeast. goes down easily. a nice effort.
