ditmier (1019), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 21, 2009 2009 Lips of Faith Bottle - Pours copper with a nice white head...aroma is fall spice, ginger, malt, bread...flavour is similar, malty, like a spicy pumpkin brew sans pumpkin, sweet, yeasty, bit of cocoa...blah... blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 21, 2009 bottle, golden colored pour, small foam, aromas of celery seed, mint, spices, flavors of mint, cepacol, spice, woody, finish can be a bit strange notalush (2626), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 20, 2009 Bomber (Lips of Faith) - hazy gold pour - nose of spices, belgian-ish phenols, honey, a very mild wild character, crackery malts - herbal bitterness - full but soft carbonation - starts with light phenols, very light funkiness, gingerbread, and moderate herbal character - these complexities are soon washed out by a honey sweetness soon becomes all you can taste from the middle, through the finish - maybe a touch of mango - starts out great, but ends up slightly disappointing. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Jun 20, 2009 22 ounce Lips of Faith bottle purchased from the Pole Line Nugget in Davis, CA. Aroma has some musty barnyard yeast notes at first, which is followed by some light sweet aromas. Some spices present as well. Very slightly hazy dark golden/orange body with a medium whitish head. Sweet, doughy start, which becomes well...pretty bland. Light spiciness to finish. Not much bitterness. A little yeas character, but all in all this is a real snoozer. Doesn’t taste like a BdG to me. It has a very thick oily body, too. gracefullypunk (272), Washington, USA Jun 20, 2009 Lips of Faith bottle from Malt and Vine. Pours honey gold with a thin head and plenty of rising bubbles. Aroma--Malt is dominant with peppery hops, spice and vinegar. Palate is a bit weak. Interesting taste, however, with plenty of spice, coriander, pepper, lemon, floral, with a mild bitter finish. scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Jun 19, 2009 Pours clear orange-amber, with a thin white head, little lacing. Smells of coriander, pepper, caramel, ginger and figs. Thin body, velvety and crisp. Flavors of citrus, biscuit, caramel, fennel, with an extremely mild bitter grass aftertaste, and a slight sour edge. Well balanced and easy drinking. Mild, but interesting. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 17, 2009 Lips of Faith Biere des Mars shared by Ucusty. Pours a translucent honey gold with a thin white head. The nose is earthy, yeasty, mildly corny, malt dominant of course. Flavor is spicy, mildly fruity, malty, earthy, some yeast character. Palate is dry and a little spicy. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 15, 2009 Bomber shared by ucusty at the Carolina Crew tasting - thanks, David! Amber pour with modest carbonation. The aroma is quite nice, with lively hops, pepper, and brett mixing playfully together. Nice full body. The spice and hops are up front, but there’s a very pleasant bretty finish to this one. Not quite as much complexity as you’d want for the style (and price!) but a very enjoyable beer for sure.
