Liked the flavors on this beer. This was very drinkable and the frutiness and spices where just perfect to the balance of malts. A good after winter beers...beer.. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2009 12oz bottle, best by October 2006, consumed in May 2009. Courtesy FlacoAlto. Pours a hazy, glowing, orange-amber color. Despite a careful pour, a massive column of spongy, off-white foam erupts, settling at a swift pace to a lasting 2mm blanket. A sudsy wash of broken lace retreats back into the body almost entirely. The nose shows softly sweet biscuit and cookie dough notes, with a big, soothing infusion of flakes oats. Traces of vanilla add a dessert-like overtone. Dry, dusty brett yeast notes offer some farmhouse character, and hints of lemongrass contribute some freshness. The flavors are similarly structured, malty and biscuity up front, transitioning to some aged floral hop bitterness and dry, lightly dusty brett funk. The lemon comes through again, adding a bright citrusy note. The finish is somewhat herbal and green, yet remains semi-sweet from all the biscuity malt. Oats make a re-appearance on the palate, lending smooth substance to an already ample body. Carbonation is fine and lively, intensifying the peppery, bretty finish. A very fine brew, even if it is 2.5 years beyond it’s prescribed expiration. It just goes to show you the wonders that brettanomyces can work. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Flavor was much of the same, with something akin to gingerbread. A pretty solid beer. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 19, 2004 Hazy, bright orange color, as in a ripe apricot. Head is initially thick, fluffy, pure white. Aroma is fresh and fruity, citrus large and in charge. Soon, a supreme hoppiness sets in and makes itself quite welcome in the nose and on the palate.
Thrilling and tasty bitterness on the mouth, with a deliciously citric (orange, mostly) finish. Very yeasty, and quite well-balanced. Body is medium, hops are out front, but the brew is altoghether a rounded one. This is a very special ale, and when all the parts come together, I’m left wondering...am I drinking some kind of liquefied orange bread?
Quite a nice accomplishment from a brewery of well-deserved fame. Kinz (2214), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 29, 2005 Medium, hazy orange, decent but quickly fading head. Hard to get an aroma off of this, very faintly of wheat and oranges. Flavors were muted and subtle, not like the Belgian Saisons that are so much more in your face. The "unidentified flying yeast strains" lent an odd, sour off note at the end, almost reminiscent of a spoiled batch of homebrew. Too bad, as I had really been looking forward to trying this. Thanks to TannerTavernBoys for giving me the chance to sample!
