Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

Lips of Faith bomber, shared by NachlamSie. Pours a hazy orange gold with moderate offwhite head. The aroma is leather, slight cheese, some eathy hops, and a touch of mint. The flavor is pleasantly hoppy with earth, grass, and distant lemon notes. There’s a mellow gouda note in the background that makes it rather interesting. It takes on a sort of plantiness toward the finish. Not too shabby.

pours a cloudy orange with a huge white head. aroma is sour as expected from asaison like beverage with a yeasty note that is a bit peppery. there is a noticeable hop presence in this sucker, that is very grapefruit/orange like. lemony flavor that has some body to it. wow, the yeasty flavor comes through here. this is a nice affordable version of a good saison. it doesn’t quite measure up to one, but it is good on its own. wonderful dry chalky alcohol and grape finish. i will buy a 6 of this. i could spend an evening with this beer and not be ashamed. wow this is dry.

Lips of faith bottle from Brusin’ Ales. Hazy bright amber pour, fluffy off white head, and drippy lace. Toast, biscuit malts, and light spice on the nose. Lemon, ginger and light horse blanket with notable hints of brettanomyces underlined all over the zesty flavor. Slightly dry finish. Decent, but at the $15 dollar price tag I don’t think i’ll be picking up another.

This copper ale poured with a fluffy white head and a spice and yeast aroma. The flavor is much more mellow than I expected, yet very flavorful, with a nice malt base, lots of interesting spices and a subtly bitter finish. Surprisingly, not very sour.

Foggy amber orange color, faint white head. Aroma is citrus, floral notes, caramel, and dried fruit. Taste is slightly hoppy, with fruit and caramel accents.

Murky though spotty bright orange body topped by a pillowy manila head. The aroma is nice and funky, spices, fruit and some sweetness. The flavor is interesting. Much more malt intensive then some Saisons, pepper and citrus throughout. Does not taste as funky as it smells. Lightly sour with an astringent biting finish. The palate is dry spritzy and medium. Decent effort it could use a little more of that farm house funk to really make it a true stand out. Thanks to my Ohio connection.

Lips of Faith Biere des Mars shared by Ucusty. Pours a translucent honey gold with a thin white head. The nose is earthy, yeasty, mildly corny, malt dominant of course. Flavor is spicy, mildly fruity, malty, earthy, some yeast character. Palate is dry and a little spicy.

Best before 27Oct06. Pours a hazy golden with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of oranges, yeasty funk, sour (sour what you ask? just sour), and spices. Fairly tart, with all the aromas coming through in the taste. Some bitterness noted from the middle to the end, lingering a little. Can pick up a little alcohol too--surprising since it’s only 6.2%. Pretty good.
