Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

On tap, hazy orange gold colour. Off white head. Aromas of lemons and herbs. The taste is lightly sweet up front, and is quite crisp and clean. Some subtle notes of herbal lemon. Nice, crisp. Why is this a winter beer? A would love this in the summer.

Tap at Crescent Moon in Omaha, Nebraska. Pour is dark golden orange, mostly clear with a nice one inch tan head. Visible carbonation on the pour. Aroma of soft biscuit malt, joined with sweet banana fruit, some funky honey floral notes, grass and some ginger. The taste resembles the nose, starting with the malt, followed quickly by the sweet fruit and honey floral. The funky and grass are present in the taste as well, though come across a little dirty. Palate is medium, coats the mouth nicely, then the carbonation lifts wells. The dirtiness of the taste actually led to a pleasant mineral mouth feel that ended dry. Nice beer.

12 pz bottle. You have to give New Belgium credit for trying differerent brews. Some the get right, and some they don’t. This one ranks up high on their list of successes. Pours a very interesting orange color with some haze Simply gigantic foamy head. Lacing that looked like baby marshmellows. Nose was citrus and wheat, with just a hint of spices. Mourhtfeel is smooth and rich, and it feels good on the back of the tongue. Flavor are spices, crtrus, coriander, and flowers. Very nice pepper finish. Very easy to drink.

Bottle courtesy of Wohlfs. Pours golden orange with frothy white head. Aroma and flavor very subdued. Lots of different fruits present, lemon and peach most evident. Also has some orange and that farmhouse yeastiness to it. Good for a hot summer day.

On tap at the AZ Strong Beer fest. Supposed to be the "lips of faith" version. Pours a coudy amber with a beige head. The nose is light sour citrus, malt and spice. The taste is light funk, sour citrus and spicy yeast. Medium prickly mouthfeel. Decent stuff.

Bottle shared by ucusty. Thanks. I wrote: "pretty not bad," whatever that means. Nose is spicy, lemon, didn’t get much brett. Flavor is the same. meh.

22oz Lips of Faith bomber 9/3/09 (Sam’s Wine & Spirits-Downers Grove)-Pours a hazy amberish orange with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, sugars, citrus, spices, malt, and caramel. Taste of the same with the yeast, caramel, spices, and a bit of pepper coming through a bit more prominent. A nice tasting medium bodied brew. Good job.
