Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

Bottle Pours a cloudy orange with a medium sized off white head. This quickly dissipates leaving silky smootin lacing. Slightly sour citurs aroma with a little musty yeast notes as well. Flavors are similar dry and begish yeast flavor with some lemon and orange flavors as well. Strange flavor. Nice soft carbonation. Astringent trailer.

Didn’t expect to like this one quite as much as I did... All told, out of the bottle it looks about like a cross between an amber ale and a wheat beer. Nice amber/orange color with a lot of haze. Lemony nose. Body is rather crisp and ends with a slight citrus twist at the end that is refreshing. Definitely worth trying...

bottle BB oct 27, 2006 from psprings... "man you should try this, it*s doing some weird stuff".

pours a milky opaque orange with clumpy sediment. the sandy off white head is peppered with chunks of yeast. the head sticks around for a bit and leaves behind moderate drippy lacing. spice in the aroma burns the nose a bit... bretty monster... cinder block, dust, lemon and cinnamon. there*s not much going on in the flavor other than lots of funky yeast....dust, metal/mineral, orange and maybe some pale maltiness. it finishes dry and is completely dry throughout. even the aftertaste is dry and bretty. medium body with crazy foamy soapy carbonation which blankets the palate and coats the mouth.

neato...8/5/8/3/16/3.9-4.0

fresh pour from papago... hazy honey color with a soapy white head. the aroma is sweet smelling and a big let down from the aged bottle. the brett is faint and only noticed in the flavor. there is far too much sugar and orange to be able to find any nuances. medium body with a sugary coating on the tongue. i guess i gotta buy bottles! 5/4/5/3/15/3.3

22oz bottle of Lips of Faith Biere de Mars. Not sure if this is the same stuff, but here goes. Bright melon orange with plenty of carbonation. Sweet and spicy aroma. Orange and ginger, a touch tart, a touch candy-ish. Interesting. The flavors are similar with a good dose of sweet candy, cleaned up by healthy carbonation and a ginger-spice-earthy character. Interesting, but it comes across as fake and I don’t know why.

Color is a cloud of peachy orange, kinda murky with lots of yeasty chunks floating around adding to the murk. Small dirty whitish head that fades to a thin ring and lace is fast dripping strings. Smell barely has anything to it, just light notions of citrus and muskyness like a damp basement. Taste is mild in tone, super dulled citrus of mango and old bananas and peaches. Malt laden chewyness and smoothness with touches of mild spice and a dryish finish lending sweet bread and honey. Feel is smooth and lighter then medium in body with a nice finish thats quite subtle and complex in effects of its drying. A nice drinker, smooth and mellow with a relaxing quality throughout.

22oz. bottle. Bright amber oange in color with an average sized head. Aroma is floral, lightly hoppy, a little funk, citrus, and a lot of brett. Taste is of straw, grain, a light tasrtness, citrus, and of course a yeasty brett character. Slightly dry finish.
