Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

Pours a hazy orange golden with a short-lived white head. Nicely semi-sweet and spiced aroma with hints of Belgian yeast. Body is very smooth with a pleasant, earthy dry malty profile and a mild hop balance. Very drinkable and with good style adherence. Thanks whaleman!

Deep, hazy golden/orange color. Large, rocky white head. Mostly lasting with excellent lacework. The nose holds notes of soap, citrus and vineous fruit. The flavor is malty and lightly sweet up front, then balanced out nicely on the backside with lightly bitter and astringent citrus fruit peel flavors. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and very fizzy carbonation. Short, astringent and very dry finish. Citrusy and tart at the wee end. Very refreshing Spring beer! Thanks to jskendzel for this brew!

Dark orange; creamy (colour and consistency)head. Very slight malt in the nose. Sourish, gingerish, peppery hints in the taste on a very malty base. Not half bad. Medium-bodied, slick feeling in the throat. Nice. Quite drinkable, which I find difficult with anything swarming towards ginger. The French bière de Mars is not really considered Saison, though...

Not quite what I was expecting. Pours a hazy orange with almost no discernable head. Oily in the glass. Tastes sugary with some light grassy notes. Aromas of hay and grass seem to quickly give way to sugary smells.

Tap at the Six Arms. Hazy dark brown beer. Nice sweet caramel malts underneath a great tart aroma. Some great fruitiness, cherry, orange peel mixed with a soft woodiness. Vineous, white grape flavour. Body is still quite full, but there is great balance here. Lots of tasty funk. Dryish finish, despite all the sweet malts up front. Oaky tannic flavour and a lingering woody, resiny finish.

Soft cloudy orange. Sharp, somewhat tart flavor up front. Soft palate and carbonation throughout. Woody and sandy flavors, somewhat sour, like grapefruit juice, with some peanuts, birch, and turpentine flavors as well. Peach aroma.

Bomber from the Sam’s in Downers Grove, Illinois: It poured a slightly hazed orange/amber body with an ecru film in lieu of a head. It had an aroma of lemon, soft caramel, warm spices, and a touch of funk. Very socft mouthfeel - perhaps too soft. The flavor added a touch of tropical fruit and a mild citrus rind bitterness. The finish was dry and mildly bitter. Pretty decent.

Slightly hazy amber with an initially fluffy cream colored head. Heavy appearance, with slow traveling bubbles. Aromas of spiced light citrus. Flavors start out with a light crispy fruitiness and continue to a lightly peppered ripe fruit encore. Smooth on the tongue. Yeasts float about and keep the flavors light, spicy and refreshing.
