Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

Listed as a Biere De Mars @ AZ Strong Beer Festival. Hazy golden pour with a noticeable tangerine hue. Only a small white ring for a head and no lacing (can you really get sticky lacing on a plastic mug???) Lemon zest, banana, and spice accompany a good amount of carbonation. Pretty good beer tasted amongst a bunch of better brews.

22oz bottle. Kind of a dark gold pour with a nice white head. Sweet, somewhat spicy aroma, a little peppery as well. Not a whole lot of flavor realy, trying to get some discernable flavor, but can’t put my finger on anything, let down.

Overall a little dissapointing. Pours a hazy orange/amber in color, with no head. Flavors of honey, and light citrus notes. The good note is that it goes down easy so I can try something else.

Nice appearance in my opinion, nice off- orange hue topped by a small delicate head..that dissapates to a nice lace ..this beer is pleasantlly hazy. mm the aroma is strange yet intrigueing..i smell the malts and lemon but also some spiciness..nice though. This beer has an odd taste also but i like it..it tastes a wee bit at the start like a triple..but soon loses that and becomes a robust lager..its quite crisp very odd but it draws me in i think i can even detect some oats in this Fells great in the mouth a taste adventure. Nice drinkable spring ale..odd but I will have another for sure.

Very pretty color and head. Citrus comes out in the end. Nice hops-malt combo.

Hazy golden amber with no head. The nose is wheaty with malty sweetness. The taste is wattery and wheaty with some sweetness. Interesing and fairly easy to drink.

Best before 3/4/05. 52°. 12 oz bottle. NB Worthy glass. Hazty light orange, small off white head, lacing. Aroma was malty and yeasty with citrus notes. Taste was bready, sourish, and wheaty with a sourish, slightly bitter and somewhat citrusy finish. Nice mouthfeel. Good.

Bottle: Very thin, short lived white head on a medium amber body. Immediate aroma is of Juicy Fruit gum! Aromas to follow are catty, light alcohol, and musty, earthy, malt and wet horse blanket. Flavor is well balanced, with some toasty malt, but overall thin! Fruitiness is low, and there’s not much to the flavor. Some earthy flavors up front, hints of bitterness in the very finish, aftertaste is rather bland, but does have some pepper and spicy yeast. Not papery or cardboardy, just bland. Highly carbonated, dry m/f, hints of warming alcohol, and lighter body. Interesting beer! Sort of a clash between a farmhouse ale and a pumkin ale. Seems to be some nutmeg hidden in there, but it might just be the yeast.
