I definitely smell the lemon verbena and something else like curdling milk as well as other herbs. The taste isn’t as good as I was hoping for -- aftertaste is kind of like I imagine my little boy’s urine-logged diaper would taste like. I imagine there are other redeeming qualities, pehaps I drank it too cold. ajm (976), Los Angeles, California, USA

Reminded me of when they had Devotion on tap: a US version of a Belgian that turns out quite refreshing. MaxPower (961), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2003 Pours a cloudy deep amber orange color with a small creamy lasting head, light citrus flowery aroma. Wheat flavors kind of reminds me of lemon cough drops. Medium body with a dry finish, not bad very interesting I have not tasted anything quite like it. stefanje (960), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2009 650 ml bottle from Freddy. This is a lips of faith bottling. Pours a translucent copper color with a medium white head that soon recedes to a 1/8 inch and holds. The aroma is very saison-like with musty fruits, spices and Belgian yeasts. The flavor is complex with funky yeast, cinnamon, clove, hay and mixed fruits. The mouthfeel is full and malty smooth with a bit of an acidic quality. The finish is long and dry with lingering cinnamon spice. Overall: Very nice but not great, to acidic for me.. Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 24, 2002 This is good. I love the appearance, burnt orange in color, nice head and lace, good carbonation and cloudiness. It tastes and feels like a French biere de garde, a style that I really like (Saison is the Belgian equivalent of biere de garde). It has that nice malty, yeasty taste. I didn’t notice much of the lemon, which is good in my book. The lemon initally made me apprehensive about trying this, because I don’t like any fruit in my beer, but don’t let it scare you. tennisjoel (952), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA

I’m not an expert on the Biere de Garde style, but I enjoyed this quite a bit. Dry flowers, brett, lemon, and some underlying banana/clove make this an enjoyable New Belgium brew. Pretty decent beer here. Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 17, 2004 Cloudy golden color, fruity nose and taste of light citrus. Pleasant and easy drinkin'. Finish is somewhat drying. TipsyMcStager (946), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 17, 2004 Very light aroma. All I could detect was peach, no hops or malt. Pours a cloudy orange, sparse head. Medium body and flat. Acids are present and moderate bitter finish. Quite dry. Maybe I’m missing the point, but I found this boring and dull.
