Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

On tap. Pours murky rust orange with a thin, foamy head that quickly recedes. Aroma of orange zest, caramel malts, fruity esters and some slight sour and earthy notes. The flavor has bready malts and fruity esters appear on the front, followed by orange zest, lots of spice, and an earthy finish. This beer is on the lighter side of medium-bodied, with average carbonation and a slightly sour, funky finish. Not bad at all, and pretty drinkable

The sienna colored body was endowed with ample carbonation, the resulting rapid effervescence of which formed a two finger thick head in the tulip glass. The aroma was malty and floral with yeast imparted spicy notes as well. The taste was like spice cake, with floral and bready characteristics melding with faint herbal bitterness and a spicy phenolic finish. The body was creamy, light, and oily. It was bit too floral for my liking, but some others may find it attractive.

Yep, it’s a NBB brew. Has that familiar metallic taste that ALL their beers have. However, I do like this more than other NB beers but that’s not saying a lot. Still though in all fairness, this one is tasty. Has a slight tingle to the lips. Maltier than I expected from a beer of this light color. Like somebody said below, I also didn’t taste as much citrus as I expected to.

Sweet fruity (apricot) aroma. Fast diminishing head on a hazy, orange body. Spicy but soft flavor, not very aggressive. Better the second time around.

Serving: 22 oz. Lips of Faith bottle. Appearance: Hazy orange color with a small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma: Spicy, slightly funky nose with notes of hay, yeast, and a slight vegetal note that actually works well. Flavor: It reminds me of a light pumpkin ale. A little malty, some almost chocolate notes, a bit of fruitiness and spice. Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium-short finish. Overall: Spice and sessionable. Not too bad!

I always get excited for New Belgium's less accesible beers are released. It breaks up the monotony. And actually gives me a reason a to drink a NB brew other than La Folie or Abbey Grand Cru. Crisp white head. Laces in horizontal layers. Soft to the nose, lightly lemon. The color is sort of like F(l)at Tire, but a little hazier and a little darker. There was some sediment, but I attribute that to my pour more than the brew. Has a little bit more bite than the typical New Belgium brew. Citrus-y followed by a little bit alcohol taste behind it. For a Colorado beer, this is definitely not watered down.

A ton of tiny bubbles, a nice, thick rolling head. Smells fruity & citrucy. Yeast definitely contributes greatly to the aromatics and flavor. Rich and malty as well, some flaked barley and wheat. Also, a somewhat dry bitter character among the finish of spice and citrus zest.

Pours a clear dark orange with a medium fluffy white head. Aroma has a little bit of spice and clove, maybe a little bit of cream, that’s about it. Flavor is pretty dull also, there’s just a little bit of light fruit and spice; there’s a lot of room for more flavor... Velvety mouthfeel. Overall, good minus.
