Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

Great appearance with huge head and lacing. Aroma hinted of citrus, grains, and a tart yeast. Spicey and tart on the palate, finish clean. Very enjoyable and unique style when done right.

Poured a hazy yellow gold. Aroma of bubble gum, yeasty, touch of funk. Flavor was mildly tart and fruity with a hop bitterness on the finish. Lively on the tongue.

On draught during Autumn Brew Review 2009 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a semi-hazy orange amber colored brew with a thick off-white head that has some nice retention. Aroma of golden grain malt, some yeast, lemon and a hint of barn yard funk. Taste is medium bodied, some light carbonation with flavors of golden grain malt, some yeast, lemon zest and a touch of fruit. Finish is semi-sweet with some candi sugar, and yeast aftertaste.

Orange color, medium head. Very malty, complex blend of oats, wheat, barley malts and lemon verbena. Nicely hoppy, good balance. Mouthfeel is full. Very complex taste, good full flavor. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is a little sweet and malty. Very different, good taste. Interesting beer.

Hazy orange-yellow with a decent head (if poured down the middle of the glass). There's honey on the nose. Decent yeast-weighted flavor with a wheaty character, smooth but not overbearing. Not as full-charactered as a good Belgian wheat, but not a bad interpretation for the US market.

Poured a hazy, reddish orange color with a small off white head that quickly diminished leaving . Aroma of lots of citrus, light funky barnyard, grass, lemon, and yeast. More grassy hoppiness, lemon, orange and other citrus tastes. Yeasty, but no alcohol in the finish.

Lips of Faith bomber. Slightly hazy orange color with a very thin head. Yeasty aroma, Munich malt and biscuit. A little barny up front. Dry and hay-like. Light apricot that intesnifies closer to room temp. Biscuity.

Pours with an amazing montrosity of a head. Deep cloudy gold body under a mountainous rocky frothy white head that keeps growing. Has pretty good retention too. Nice cob-web-like lacing. Everything was nice about this beer, except I couldnt get past the aroma- had a strong Apple juice/ green tart apple smell to it along with some oxidation. When you try to block out the apple- you can get soem nice spicy phenolics and sweet bready malt. Flavor is nice and full with spice, fruits, bready malts, light caramel, doughy yeast and a nice moderate bitter finish. Smooth mouthfeel and great aftertaste. Thanks TBC2 for hooking me up.
