Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

Lips of Faith. An unclear orange beer with a 1 finger head. Aroma was musty, & funk. The taste was lemony, & like drinking dirty stinky laundry but in smooth sort of way that does get cloying. I’m assuming that funk taste is the Brett.

Lips of Faith bottle from Malt and Vine. Pours honey gold with a thin head and plenty of rising bubbles. Aroma--Malt is dominant with peppery hops, spice and vinegar. Palate is a bit weak. Interesting taste, however, with plenty of spice, coriander, pepper, lemon, floral, with a mild bitter finish.

Aroma of citrus, fresh baked bread, and alcohol. Zippy citrus, lemon peel, honey, yeast, and alcohol notes for flavors. Somewhat herbal. They don’t even try to mask the alcohol with this one, which makes this a bit hot (peppery) at the finish. This becomes even more noticable as the beer warms up. Overall, coming from New belgium I just felt a bit disappointed with this offering.

Almost an apricot nose to go with the hazy color. Citrusy, faint sweetness to start with drying finish. Definitely a brew to have again!

A challenging beer, this isn't like the Saisons I've had before at all. Orange-colored, very fragrant fruit and grain aroma. Flavor is grainy and sour. Some kind of wild and crazy yeast and/or bacteria? Re-Rate: Mar 29, Different now! Bought another six-pack, noticeably better. Hops in aroma! no sourness this time, still spicy though. gains several points. yeast aroma is that of cider. Very original beer, I'm glad New Belgium has the guts to release stuff like this.

Like the way this one poured, it was a 1/4 inch head with a cloudy orangish color. Smell was citrusy. Drank it down with no real outstanding features or dislikes. Would recommend this one for a nice spring day.

bottle 12 oz. 04mar05. Semi cloudy amber/orange w good off white head that lasted fairly well. Moderate carb, min lace. Aroma is Belgian yeast w lt/md roasted malt & light hops. Flavor is Belgian yeast w a creamy lightly toasted grain/malt sweetness & flavor that is intertwined with a fairly pronounced tart sourness with a bitter nip. Just into med bodied. The sour/bitter almost seems to overpower the grain/malt flavor but it is there and enjoyable. Light hops. Crisp & clean tasting, a bit spicey, slightly clovey & moderately complex. This will be on my enjoy regularly list when I can get it. I think its best at 55 degrees...not 50. Doesn’t possess the funkyness of a true saison in my book but still rather good. 12/19/05 I’m dropping this down .2 to a 3.4. I’m just not as impressed with it this year.

Glad this one’s back. Had draft and bottle. Very similar. Pour is cloudy golden color with small white head. Aroma is hay, chamomile, clover, mild spice, wheat-like aromas, and a hint of malt. Flavor is hay, malt, spice, clove, and some earthiness. I remember it differently, but it was still enjoyable.
