Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

I’ve had this many many times and figured I’d have plenty of opportunity to rate it despite being seasonal; then NB cut this and brought out Springboard... DOH! In any event, this brew reminds me of Fat Tire once upon a time; something I’ve discussed with a few of the locals. Pours a hazy orange/amber color with ample white head. Great sweet, mild fruity nose. Smooth amber with notable fruit, mild malt and spice tones. Simply awesome; if any beer deserves a perfect score, it’s this one! Really hoping NB jumps off the Springboard and back on this one for next spring.

One of my favorites, and maybe New Belgium’s best. One of the best tasting beers out there. Hopefully New Belgium brings it out this Spring or else I’m gonna lose it.

22 oz bottle (guise of Lips of Faith-Biere de Mars) poured into tumbler- poured transparent light copper color, no to low carbonation, white ring around the glass for a head. Aroma of yeast, a whole lotta spices (nutmeg, peppercorn, mild pepper flake to name a few...), bananas, darkened fruit- I find it hard to drink this after 5 minutes of smelling it- simply, it smells awesome. Hits the mouth with a low-medium body, malt is there but alot of sweetened fruits smile nicely and introduce themselves to the party, middle holds up just fine as wheat is noticeable in the background, finish lingers for well over a minute. Damn. Really, damn. Even though I’m having this brew young age (6 months, if that), the flavor and aroma are nothing short of awesome. I have to buy the rest of the stock at the store for myself and friends before other people hold them for their own or lb4lb (mini me) trades them!!!

Definite citrus note, though it's difficult to tell if it comes from the wheat or from the hops. Excellent beer nonetheless.

My favorite beer for three months of the year. Fruity and spicy, but with no flavors going "over the top". Alcohol content is not terribly strong, and the balanced citrus and grain flavors shine through. Goes down so easy it can get you in to trouble. Very refreshing, and an incredibly odd color.

Orange! The floating orange on the label is nearly the exact color of the brew. Citrus and malty nose is very pleasant. Refreshing and smooth despite the moderate %Alc. Quite unique.

12 oz bottle I have kept for about 6 months in the fridge. It is a slight orange-yellow color with a medium head. The aroma is pretty malty with a yeasty component. The flavor is distinctly Belgian with several spices. It is fruity and peppery. The finish is really nice, especially after the aging. Good beer. New: Tasted a fresh one tonight and really got the Brett in the aroma and flavor. Excellent!!!!
