Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

courtesy of vasdef42, 22oz bottle. Pours orange, white head. Aroma, brett, citrus, some apple. Flavor, hoppy, light malty notes, spices and possibly ginger, adding for a nice peppery mouthfeel. Malt also gives the finish a light chocolate feel, coupled with.some citrus elements.

Rerate 06.07.06 Lightly hazed copper. Attractive brett nose. Moderate bitterness, including a distinct herbal bitterness. Attractive brett character, both in terms of dryness and a nice soft horseblankety finish.

Hazy, golden body with a thin, off-white head. The aroma is light and slightly citrusy, made up of lemon and orange zest, with bits of wheat, yeast, fresh baked bread and some lightly floral hops. The body is light and refreshing. The flavor is clean and enjoyable. Nothing mind blowing, but solid and tasty. Not like the most common US-brewed Saisons, which is fine by me. There is no overpowering coriander or other spices. I could drink a lot of this if it were available regularly.

Slightly hazy amber with an initially fluffy cream colored head. Heavy appearance, with slow traveling bubbles. Aromas of spiced light citrus. Flavors start out with a light crispy fruitiness and continue to a lightly peppered ripe fruit encore. Smooth on the tongue. Yeasts float about and keep the flavors light, spicy and refreshing.

Hazy yellow/orange w/ a meringue-like head. A peppery, lemony flavor w/ a clean finish. Different & enjoyable.

22oz bottle of Lips of Faith Biere de Mars. Not sure if this is the same stuff, but here goes. Bright melon orange with plenty of carbonation. Sweet and spicy aroma. Orange and ginger, a touch tart, a touch candy-ish. Interesting. The flavors are similar with a good dose of sweet candy, cleaned up by healthy carbonation and a ginger-spice-earthy character. Interesting, but it comes across as fake and I don’t know why.

Super hazy caramel color, thin white fizzy head. Complex nose of funky farm yard, lemony, soft oak, and touches of vanilla. Flavor has less funk and more emphasis on the lemony, vanilla, and oaky tones. Soft peppery and nutty earthy tones provide some additional complexities as you get closer to the mid and end point. Medium bodied, soft carbonation and smooth, drying, semi-bittersweet finish. A very nice change of pace from the everyday variety....

I always get excited for New Belgium's less accesible beers are released. It breaks up the monotony. And actually gives me a reason a to drink a NB brew other than La Folie or Abbey Grand Cru. Crisp white head. Laces in horizontal layers. Soft to the nose, lightly lemon. The color is sort of like F(l)at Tire, but a little hazier and a little darker. There was some sediment, but I attribute that to my pour more than the brew. Has a little bit more bite than the typical New Belgium brew. Citrus-y followed by a little bit alcohol taste behind it. For a Colorado beer, this is definitely not watered down.
