Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

ReRate 06/08/02: As I have changed my rating system, to reflect more acurately the beers sampled, a re-rate of my top 100 beers is now in progress: The beer pours a cloudy orange color, generous head and lace. Nose is malt, slightly citrus, sweet as is the start, top light, the finish is nicely hopped, dry, acidic and quite ’Quaffable’.

Hazy orange in color, head quickly dissipated. Aroma is yeasty, fruity, with flavors of orange, lemon, and maybe peaches. Tangy and bubbly mouth feel. Dry finish, Thanks, Tad.

Poured a hazy, reddish orange color with a small off white head that quickly diminished leaving . Aroma of lots of citrus, light funky barnyard, grass, lemon, and yeast. More grassy hoppiness, lemon, orange and other citrus tastes. Yeasty, but no alcohol in the finish.

Sweet fruity (apricot) aroma. Fast diminishing head on a hazy, orange body. Spicy but soft flavor, not very aggressive. Better the second time around.

POur is a very hazy off orange with a frothy white head. Aroma is a bit lemony with notes of vanilla. Flavor is yeasty and caramel with lots of sweetness throughtout. You get a nice dose of wet hops on the end of the swallow. Vey tasty and quite unique.

A nice orange colored amber beer. Good head and a very nice citrus nose. Liked the flavors on this beer. This was very drinkable and the frutiness and spices where just perfect to the balance of malts. A good after winter beers...beer..
