Commercial Description:
Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena, all of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains.

This was a damn good Saison, thanks to mitch for the beer. It begins with an awesome aroma of wood, paper, caramel, yeastiness and bananas. It pours a golden and tanned color with a heavy opal colored head. There is a nice lemony bittering and a malty tanginess that begins right around the mid sip. Some mango and citrus in there as well just to be well rounded and crisp. Big, bold taste with a round malty finish and a nice dry ending. The carbonation level is medium and held in check well. This is very tasty and smells wonderfully.

Rounded, dark, spicy, yeasty taste. Astoundingly good. Predominant flavor is vanilla, followed by a slight citric tinge, and nondescript spice. Oats give this beer a rolling, tongue-encapsulating mouthfeel. Has a desert/flower/cactus taste to it that I can't identify. Another winner from New Belgium. Is this America's best brewery? To my knowledge it is, and don't even say anything about Ommegang.

Hazy, bright orange color, as in a ripe apricot. Head is initially thick, fluffy, pure white. Aroma is fresh and fruity, citrus large and in charge. Soon, a supreme hoppiness sets in and makes itself quite welcome in the nose and on the palate. Thrilling and tasty bitterness on the mouth, with a deliciously citric (orange, mostly) finish. Very yeasty, and quite well-balanced. Body is medium, hops are out front, but the brew is altoghether a rounded one. This is a very special ale, and when all the parts come together, I’m left wondering...am I drinking some kind of liquefied orange bread? Quite a nice accomplishment from a brewery of well-deserved fame.

Pours cloudy orange. The aroma is almost kriek-like with a sourness to it as well as grass and yeast. Flavor is light with hints of peppery lemon, yeast and wheat. Clean with a dry finish.

The color of a cut open butternut squash, and cloudy. The head rises then drops and floats like a hand-knitted tam. Clingy. Smells of straw bales, and a walk through a veggie garden in July; warm vegetable leaves and tilled soil. Taste of spicy baby greens. There’s citrus, and a reminder of coriander. Apricot. Delicious muskmelon! Floats on a carbonated swell with chewy grain raft.

Thanks to friend Paul B for this sample. Follows more or less the the objective description listed here. Poured with a nice white head and good lace. Color is almost clear medium yellow. Aroma is spicy, malty, honey, herbal; nice. Flavor is about the same. Decent brew. Good finish. Slightly boozy. Drinkable.

On tap at Papago. Pours a light copper color with a creamy off-white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Smells of apricot and faint yeast. Tastes of both with the sweet taste of caramel on the mid-palate and a tart peach flavor that dries on the finish. Nicely balanced. Re-rated from one of the new 22oz bottles and liked it even better. Has a really comforting butterscotch richness to the flavor.
