Commercial Description:
Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. ‘Blue Paddle’ refers to the implement our warehouse manager’s Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

12 oz. bottle. Attractive head, which lasted, nice lacing, a bit of nose with promise, pleasant pale yellow, watery on the tongue, minimal bitterness, not much finish. I thought the hops would be larger.

Musty, yeasty earthy aroma. Lite citrus. Light malts and minimal hops flavor. Very easy-going palate. Slightly dry finish

Clear bright yellow appearance, with a medium-sized white head atop. Smells musty and old, with that typical lager aroma, but still a little more enjoyable because of yeasty qualities. Very effervescent, with a slightly sour flavor among the regulat matly ones. Not anything extraordinary, but definitely drinkable

Solid pils. Good, grassy hops. It has a very rich, grainy mouthfeel and a perfect looking pour.

Pours a nice shade of yellow with a moderate white head. Light earthy hops on the nose with some grain and muted yeast character, as far as the brewery is concerned. I would definitely describe the taste as "crisp", cliched though that may be for pilsners. Also, some old rind flavors, mild hops, rye and a tart grain. Finishes bitter with a subtle tartness. Light bodied, but that’s the name of the game here. It’s not the best pilsner I’ve had, but you can’t go wrong with this. It tastes even better when you find it at a place where you expect only macros on the tap wall.

Two quality Pilseners in a row, though I’ll go with the Presque Isle over this. This is just a regular tasty Pilsener with all the regular ingredients you expect (including even the just-barely-not-quite-skunky aroma). Presque Isle has the distinction of being more distinctive.

Bottle from Brown Derby in Lebannon. A very good example of the style. Not as hoppy as I would have liked, but a good hop flavor. Big white head, golden clear. Nice hoppy finish. Definitely recommend.

Pours a light straw gold with little head. Aroma of grassy hops and sweet, earthy malts. Flavor is hoppy and earthy; plenty going on but not overpowering at all. Very well balanced. A nice refresher after an epic mountain bike ride in the alpine country of Colorado.
