Commercial Description:
Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. ‘Blue Paddle’ refers to the implement our warehouse manager’s Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

Bright white head and gold pour. Fresh smell with floral and bittersweet malts. Taste gives a medium bitterness up front. Crisp, dry and refreshing with an almost floral and strong woody bitterness. Well carbonated. Fantastic drinkable, and crisply bittered pilsener. Glad I tried this one again as it makes a perfect summer beer while tending the smoker.

Bottle. Light amber, average aroma. Some biscuit notes. Enough maltiness to balance the crispness. Fairly dry. Good for a pilsner.

Not very good. Low hoppiness and watery taste. Slight skunky taste to it. Needs to be opened and let breath.

bottle (thanks A-rod). crystal clear copper-yellow hue with a foamy 2-finger head, but has no retention. the aroma is a blend of yeast and hops, with grassy tones as well. the taste is a little thin, but has nuances similar to that of a sauvignon blanc; minerals, grass, and a little white grape flavor as well. the hops ring in towards the finish, leaving a refreshing hop and taste and grainy texture, but still a bit too thin and dry on the finish. while it doesn’t scream unique, it’s a good after-work beer. i just hope it’s not too pricey.

Pours pale gold. aroma faint grassy hop aroma and corn malt. taste has some hay and crystal malt that fades into a moderate grainy, spicy bitter finish. pretty watery and doesnt rate next to any good pils.

Very average lagery tasting beer. Pours very clear, nothing special about this beer other than the metallic aftertaste noted by others.

Hoppy typical lager aroma. Light gold and bubbly. Head is small and dies quickly. I only really taste the hops. Very light and crisp, but boring. Watery with average carbonation. Good beer, just didn’t like it much.

If you are going to go for a light New Belgium beer I would strongly recommend Skinny Dip over Blue Paddle.
