Commercial Description:
Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. ‘Blue Paddle’ refers to the implement our warehouse manager’s Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

If you are going to go for a light New Belgium beer I would strongly recommend Skinny Dip over Blue Paddle.

Pours a straw color with a frothy white head. Aroma is a sweet, grainy cereal. It was skunked on the pour but that went away with time. The palate is light, thin and watery with just enough carbonation. Very little flavor on the tongue, but finishes crisp and clean. A very drinkable beer.

I found this beer to be lightly sweet and sticky, and struck me as quite similar to New Glarus Spotted Cow, of which I am not a huge fan. This beer poured a dull yellow with a fair amount of white head. Aroma was citrusy with a lightly sweet aroma. Flavor is acidic tasting with lots of citrus notes. Much more like a Spotted Cow than I expected. Mouthfeel is a bit harsh and slightly sticky. Can’t say I’d recommend this.

Poured a lightly hazed yellow color with a small off-white head. Light tart and light sulfur aroma. Malty and sweet flavor with some DMs and light hop on finish. Crisp bitterness.

Draught at the Denver Airport. Poured a clear golden color. Head was thin, white, and left a bit of lace. Aroma and flavor were of malty cereal grain and noble hops. There was a touch of sweetness on the tongue. Pretty standard pilsener.

12oz bottle-Aroma of slight hops and grass on a clear golden body with a nice white body. Taste of corn, hops, and has a big dryness to it. Not bad but something this brewery does not need to brew.

Crystal clear golden pour with a quickly dissolving white head. Hints of skunk in the nose are evident, but not overpowering or overly unpleasant. Hops hit up front and are quickly overcome by strong malt flavors. Aftertaste is nothing amazing, but, as would be expected with a pilsener, this is a highly drinkable beer. A good summer beer (hey, it hit 60 for the first time all year today)!
