By earning the title of mediocre, it is worse than good or bad. This beer has almost no head, and a bland yellow color. When I took a sniff, I had to take a few deep inhales to get anything. The "anything" turned out to be a faintly sour odor, with a hint of urine lurking somewhere. The taste does not distinguish itself into phases of time, as do most decent beers. It has a singular simple flavor that is modestly pleasing, but entirely unexceptional, leaving only the faintest tingle on the tongue after swallowing. troopie (884), USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Draught. Poured gold yellow with fine white head. Nice malty aroma with hop. Pleasant malty flavour that just peters out into a flat finish. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 3, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear yellow without much of a head. Nose is somewhat hoppy. Very crisp pilsener with a pretty full-bodied flavor for the style. Bitterness throughout is not offensive, but actually adds to the refreshing character of the brew. Very dry but enjoyable, maybe my favorite pilsener to date if that’s saying much. Thanks to tjthresh for the bottle boFNjackson (1302), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 31, 2006 Updated: Nov 4, 2006I have to say, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with every New Belgium brew, except this one. Nice white head, golden color, but the aroma is faint (almost like a light beer) and not much flavor except for a metalic aftertaste. It doesn’t taste bad, just nothing unique or exciting about this beer. Diablokev (115), Lakewood, Colorado, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Pours clear yellow with a good sized white head. Lightly husky malt aroma with a bit of spicy hops. Medium / light body with some fizzy carbonation. The taste starts with some malt and light husk. The finish has some spicy hops and has a bit more huskiness as well as some astringency. An okay pils.
