Commercial Description:
Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. ‘Blue Paddle’ refers to the implement our warehouse manager’s Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

Ho hum nothing special. Poured a nice golden color with okay head and okay lacing. Aroma was of malts and a little grass, expected more grass smell. Flavor was of malts and grassy hops. Highly carbonated and crisp. Average pils.

Poured a pale golden color with a nice intial head, weak retention, decent lacing. The aroma was pils malts, maybe some grass. Flavor was strong pils malts, sulfur, grassy hops. Mouthfeel was highly carbonated, light body, crisp, but nothing special. An average pilsner.

Pours clear yellow with a good sized white head. Lightly husky malt aroma with a bit of spicy hops. Medium / light body with some fizzy carbonation. The taste starts with some malt and light husk. The finish has some spicy hops and has a bit more huskiness as well as some astringency. An okay pils.

Mild malty aroma. Strong white head. Light golden color. Good carbonation. Mild flavor, some hops, a little malt...well, duh, it is beer after all! Pleasantly bitter with a fairly strong metallic aftertaste. Nothing spectacular.

A clean light gold pour. An aroma of corn not very papery as I expected. I even think there is a presence of hops in both the flavor and aroma. The palate is pretty solid for the style. A drinkable beer for sure.

hazy peachy amber color with full head resolving into a nice lace. Nose is dry but fruity hoppy. Taste is also dry but mildy fruity hoppy. Texture is smooth. Finish is nice and warming.

Straw colored body with bright white head. Clean malt and straw aromas. Crisp clean taste with a hint of nuts and clove. Loved it.

Bottle: pours to a clear, bright pale yellow, though it is darker than a bud light in color. A medium, rocky, white head forms atop it and seems to last for a bit. The aroma is light grains, pale malts, a tiny bit of sweaty bready pilsner malt though it does seem to give off more of an aroma of american 2-row (can I really detect this correctly in the smell? who knows). The taste shows a nice burst of flavor from the noble hops - floral, grassy, and herbal hops - up front, along with some noticeable bitterness on the tongue. This progresses through bready pilsner malt, bread dough, bitter green tea leaves, to finish with residual hop bitterness without much flavor until far out in the aftertaste some floral hops emerge once again. Light-medium bodied, medium-lively carbonated, very crisp and spritzy on the palate. This one is actually pretty good, though I’d like to see much more typical pilsner malt, bread-dough like flavors come out. I’d also love to try this one unfiltered because it must be just unbelievably better.
