Commercial Description:
Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. ‘Blue Paddle’ refers to the implement our warehouse manager’s Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

On Tap: A very light yellowish-golden color with minimal head and some carbonation lacing throughout. Aroma and taste both were a little weak/watery, but it was crisp and sharp in in its tastes, like a pilsner should be.

Pours a nice hazy golden yellow. Aromas of malts, hops, and grass. Crisp hop bitterness and dry finish.

This is a nice beer. This is one of the hoppiest and most bitter of the NB beers. A strange brew coming from such a Belgian tradition...I would have expected a Saison or something. This one has a bit of a skunky aroma but tastes better than it smells. Nice light malt flavor is over shadowed by hop flavor and bitterness. I swear there’s a hint of belgian like esters in the after taste...maybe they bottle conditioned with some belgian yeast? I like this beer but not sure if it’s spot on with the Pilsner style

12oz bottle labeled best before 30Dec05. Poured a light and slightly hazy golden yellow with a larger sized white head. Aromas of grass, straw and a little on the spicy side. Tastes of grass, grain, and sweet malts. I found this one to be refreshing.

A timid, somewhat flabby pilsener. Lots of malt and cereal on both the nose and the tongue. Mouthfeel is heavy and beer lacks the carbonation of a true pils. Hops play a depressed role.

pale yellow color, metalic taste with fervent effervescence, good for a lager

Had one of these some time ago. Bland lager with little to say for itself. At least it’s easy to drink and not too skunky. From what I remember sugar and nuts dominate the flavor. Will re-rate some time...

2005 bottle from Liquor Mart sampled on 9/30/2005. Pours a light, honey-yellow color, rather vibrant and bubbly, clear and filtered and with a good-sized and fairly well-retained white head comprised of large bubbles, quite foamy. Aroma has soft, grassy and lightly spicy hops supported by a fair amount of pils malt. Crisp, slightly sourish lager yeast is heavy through the middle and mixes with the honey flavors on the end nicely. Very clean overall, don’t find any flaws in this one, no corn-like yeast biproducts or veggies (not that I expected any). Body is a respectable medium and well to-style. A bit overcarbonated for my liking (being force carbonated of course), but nothing unusual for a bottled pils. Some dry, doughy/biscuity malt gets a little too thick but is saved in the end by a decent amount of grass and herbs lingering on.
