Commercial Description:
Fall Wild Ale, our mahogany-hued autumn ale spiced with schisandra, opens with the floral, earthy notes of fall itself. Schisandra berries, known as "five flavor fruit," possess a panoply of flavors . This malt-forward dubbel ale is fermented with a Trappist yeast and finishes dry and slightly sour from a touch of bretta. Fall Wild Ale weighs in at 8.5% abv. Tap @ Front Door: Pours a dark brownish color with an almost black color, nice tan head. The nose is mostly of sour grapes and raisin with a subtle hint of roast. The flavor is yeasty with a touch of caramel and additional herbs. Bright yeast and acidity. I like this one: seems a little rustic but still solid, malty and on par with a traditional belgian beer. Great body and quaffability.

on tap at Taco Mac, Crabapple. arrived a muddy brown with little head... lots of sweet dark fruit notes on the nose... medium body, big malt presence, spice notes, and more dark fruit including raisins... really didn’t pick up on the Brett or anything Wild. Solid Abbey Dubbel from start to finish...

On Tap at Library Alehouse (screw you Dallas Gingerman for holding your keg back for 3 months now...it is Fall Wild not Early Spring Wild!). Pours with a smallish tan head and a clear amber body. Aroma of apricots, caramel, honey, and dark fruits. Pretty malty. Taste is brett, horse, funk and apricots. Dry finish with medium bubbles. Nice.

tap @ john’s creek tacomac. Medium brown color. Nice toasted aroma, lots of dark fruit. Flavor of sweet sugary malt. Caramelized fruit sugar flavors all through the finish. Wow, this is good. This is a textbook Abbey Dubbel.

On tap at Monks Kettle. Pours dark brown with a nice beige head and a sour fruit aroma. The flavor is dark fruit with a slightly sour wild yeast taste and a dry finish.

Tap at KC Flying Saucer. Dark brown body with a light khaki head. Nose is funky tart with some vineous and oaky character. There is also a little bit of bubblegum. The taste is like bubblegum and oak funk with a leathery finish. There is persistent sweetness and the notes of lightly roasted coffee complement that character. I enjoyed this one as the sweet was not overwhelming.

Nose of a tart Flemish style: sour, yeast, light malt and fruit. Color is a great deep red like an off-batch of La Folie. Flavor is oddly thick, like a bruin with notes of red delicious apple skin. Sweet, ultimately. Can’t believe it’s a dubbel... but makes more sense than the sour I thought it was.

(draft at Trinity in Colorado Springs). Clear brown/ruby color. Small off white head. Light sour aroma. Light cherry and malt flavor. Avg duration. Smooth finish. Thin texture. Moderate/fizzy carbonation. Good lacing.
