Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

i drank this beer not 3 hours ago, and i don’t remember it. thats how boring it was. it tasted like a typical amber, caramel malt, malty, low hops, just basic.

Bottled. An orange beer with a white lacing head. Aroma is fruity with Belgian yeast notes. Belgian ale taste but with a lighter body. Malty and very drinkable

Copper pour with minimal off-white head. Moderate carbonation. First aroma is of grassy hops, and some mild caramel malt. This beer is in good balance, although it is more malty than hoppy and lacks some bitterness which would be an improvement. Grains, subtle notes of caramel, chocolate, and aromas of citrus hops. Medium-bodied, slightly roasted. Medium length finish. Not spectacular, but I would try it again.

Not too impressed by the taste, a little grainy in flavor nothing really rounding out the mouth feel. Was a little let down.

Medium copper color with a slightly stale a funky aroma. Caramel body with no bitterness and again that funk. I hope it was infected. It was not pleasent. Need to give it another try.

22oz bomber served in a shaker. Clear light copper pour with a thick head of lasting light beige foam. Pretty nice lacing. The aroma had caramel, light biscuit, and some mild citrus and herbal hops. The flavor was full of sweet caramel, toasted biscuit, light citrus, and a touch of chocolate in the finish. The mouthfeel was meidum-bodied and had moderate carbonation. Not the most exciting beer, but it is quite drinkable.

Bottle- Poured clear amber with a small white head. Crisp sweet malts and bread, earthy with some yeast. Carbs and clear taste.

On-tap. Poured with a small, off-white head that diminished very quickly. Body was clear and amber-colored. Aroma of light malt. Light and mostly thin-textured on the palate, with average carbonation. Good flavor of roasted malt, with an average duration. Overall it’s a fine beer... but pretty much just like so many others of its style.
