Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Aroma of floral hops and biscuit. Golden red appearance with scant head. Flavor has some lightly spiced yeast, apples and caramel. Palate is creamy and slightly lively. Alright, decent, nothing special.

On tap at the Alamo Drafthouse in Houston. Pours copperish, amber with not much head. Taste is bready with a mild bitter finish. Not much character to this one, in my opinion. Decent, easy drinking, but not great.

bottle 22 oz. - copper colored pour with small white head. Aroma - grainy malt, yeast and toasted grains. Flavor - toasted grains, sweet malt and subtle hop bite. Palate - light/medium mouthfeel with average carbonation. Finish is dry and does not linger. Overall - pretty average beer, good beer for summer day but nothing that great.

Bottle. Pours a honey-amber, crystal-clear color, with a thin, sticky off-white head with decent lacing. Nose is, it’s better than I expected. sweet and sour malt, fruit, biscuit. Flavors of fruit, toffee, mild but well-balanced hops. Considering how widespread this is

Heard a lot about this so I decided to try it. Pours amber/copper. Flavor is sweet, crisp and a little malty. Overall, not amazing, but definitely solid.

Bright orange colour with huge white head. Biscuit/malty aroma. Butthat hop was hiding, right at the back. Thin and bland, watery, short mouthfeel. Dissapointing.
