Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

bottle. Large creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Amber color. Light toasted male, nutty, caramel, hint of fruit. Light bodied, average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor. Malty sweet finish.

This was one of the first beers I really got into. Very drinkable. Pours a nice honey-amber. Smell is nothing to write home about. Taste is kind of toasty and a little caramel. I also get a bit of fruitiness in the taste. A great accessible, affordable amber that I go for quite a bit.

Clear amber color. Very nice malt and caramel flavors. Had this a few placed in downtown Ft. Collins on draft. A very good easily drinkable beer.

On draft at The Ship English Pub, Gatlinburg. Poured clear amber. Flavor of caramel and toffee and toasty malts. Have had this before, surprised I did not rate it yet. This beer is extremely overhyped.

First taste was not great, but I warmed up to it. The aroma was bland, but the beer looked tasty. Served too cold this beer loses a lot, as it warmed it got much better. The beer goes down smooth and the marketing is great. I will be trying more as they make their way south.

12 oz can. Pours golden amber with a fizzy white head. Smells hoppy and grainy. Tastes about like it smells. Although there was alot of metallic flavor from the can, it was pretty good, with flavors of grains, hay, grass, and a slight malty sweetness.

22 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a pale amber with a medium, lasting white head. Smells of bread and a bit of hops. Tastes of biscuit and cookie as well as toast and coffee with a slight woody taste. I thoroughly enjoyed this top quality beer.
