Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Bomber. Poured a clear, bronze body with a pillowy, off-white head. Heavy malt aroma of caramel, toast and biscuit malt. A little hoppiness underneath. Flavor is dominated by toast with the other dimensions struggling to get through. Light bodied with average carbonation. Overall a decent beer, but not as good as I remember it being.

Pours a clear copper color with a thick white head. Aroma of hops with some sweet malts. Flavor of sweet malts with some hops as well. A pretty decent beer.

Slightly cloudy copper color with a medium off white head. Aroma is hoppy but sweet with a hint of caramel. Body is a little dry but still relatively mild with the flavor of biscuits and a hint of citrus. For a hop dominant brew it still maintains a rich and malty character.

Pours a medium copper color. Head was substantial and leaves a pretty heavy lacing. Aroma is of a sweet, well, beer. good carbonation. Taste is on the sweet side and I would describe it as caramel flavors. A good, easy, session beer. Also was glad to see in GA.

Thin. Lacking in every department. It has that ’bad beer’ flavor about it. It’s along the lines of Sam Adams. Nothing special at all. But ya know, I’d drink some if you bought it for me.

The aroma is fairly mellow with some light malt. Overall this beer is about average, nothing special. Average everyday swill.

Bottle pours golden/amber with thin white head. Aroma is sweet malt. First taste is malt with nice bittering hops. The finish is clean and a slight sweet linger on the lips and hops bitterness on the tongue. Glad we finally got this one in GA. I love ambers.

Tantilizing, smooth, nice, and solid for an amber ale. Goes nice with wings.
