Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

bottle. aroma is sugary and somewhat grassy. taste is huge on caramel, shortbread and some hops in the finish. but the caramel flavor kinda wallops everything else. nice, but too sweet.

Bottle. Pours amber with a nice thick long lasting head. Smells like flowers on a nice autumn day. Taste is nice and light with a weak after taste. Great potential in this brew, just needs a tad better finish. Awesome name and picture though eh?

Bottle. Pours dark amber with very foamy head. Solid nutty, malted aroma. Yeasty flavor. Tastes heavier than it is. Finishes smoothly enough. For such low ABV, this beer shouldn’t pack the flavor that it does. Not a favorite, almost no mouthfeel, but a decent amber.

Was true in its amber color and the creamy looking head was very appealing. Overall it was an above average beer that was very easy going.

I’d rather have the bike than the beer. this beer is ok, but nothing special. pours a clear amber with a small offwhite head. some biscutity malts, bread, little hop aroma. kind of baffled about how this becamae so popular.

rerate: this beer sucks. rotten bread. I think i prefer ice cold miller light to this.

Fat fucking tire. Been a long time coming. I can totally see how this is going to be hella popular here in NC. It’s easy drinking, it has a colorful label, and its relatively cheap for a craft beer. Seriously, $3 a bomber is a great deal nowadays. The nose is pretty fucking weak--toasted malts, caramel, blah. Flavor is right on with the nose. Very easy drinking, especially when you’ve already had a few.

Deep amber pour with a moderate, off-white head. Malty with a hoppy finish. Overall smooth drinking brew. Wish I could get it in Florida

Nice amber color with a light brown lively head. Aroma is foresty hops and fruit. The taste is typical amber ale, nice sweet malty, a little spicy and little hops in the end. I don’t really get the hype about this one. It lacks any distinguishing character, which is dissapointing. With that said, however, its not bad and pretty tasty if your in a pinch.
