Overall Impression:
Always thought this one was really nice for what it is, an enjoyable beer... JCB (1771), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2009 22oz from Total Wine, Durham, ferried home by my lovely wife. Pour is actually pretty rad, with a fairly light orange color and a big lively head. Looks quite nice. More soft hops in the aroma than I remembered as well, and it’s certainly a quite refreshing amber ale. Not too much cloying or overly thick about it. But unfortunately, there’s also not a whole lot of character either. This is a good session brew, the kind of thing you’d be psyched to see at a work picnic or something (only my colleagues have better taste, thankfully). seanbhudson (54), , California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2009 APPEARANCE: Pours a clear amber color with a small white head that dissipates quickly. There is a little bit of lacing.
SMELL:
Biscuity malts and caramel.
TASTE:
Lightly toasted malts with a light caramel sweetness that is balanced light grassy hops.
MOUTHFEEL
Light to medium body with a relatively dry texture. Light fizzy carbonation.
DRINKABILITY:
Very drinkable. Enough flavor to make interesting but not heavy at all. However, there is also nothing particularly interesting about the beer.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 19, 2009 pours the typical amber, with mild carbonation forming white head. aroma of whole wheat bread and grains with a touch of butter. Taste is very similar to the aroma, with a bit of burnt and a touch of honey in front of the bitter hops. palate is fizzy, borderline watery. Overall, the aroma does wear on the nose from sip to sip, but i feel i could get used to this as a solid session beer! dogfish120love (268), west hartford, Connecticut, USA

| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Mar 14, 2009 I remembered this as being much better 10-12 years ago in Colorado, but maybe that was when I thought Killian’s was an above average beer. This is a malty heavy offering, kind of one-dimensional for me. Then again ambers are not really my favorite style, but this seemed really thick and sweet. Buttered popcorn flavor even? No bitterness detected. A lot like Red Oak. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Dark amber overrated beer with an overrated medium sized head that is almost white. The overrated aroma is lightly fruity with some toffee and overrated. The flavor watery and sweet and overrated with a an unpleasant yeasty finish that gives this beer an unpleasant overrated finish. If no one cared about this overrated beer I could probably drink it at a barbeque without thinking about it or enjoying it. As it is, I find it impossible not to focus on just how unremarkable and overrated this beer is. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 12, 2009 You would think Jesus Christ himself had come to North Carolina when it was announced that this "beer" was arriving. This shit is EVERYWHERE and people rave about it. I cant believe I havent even rated it, that probably shows what I thought about it some 5 or 6 years ago when I had a bottle of it. Brown color, tan head. Smell is somewhat nutty and fruity, but nothing to write home about. Taste is watered down, sweet, some fruity and nut flavors.. Nothing to write home about. Funny that people rave on this and fail to notice the bells amber just a few spaces down. Not even worth getting excited over. A beer for the masses.
