Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

So this stuff is a bar staple in some areas? That would be nice. Tastes like crackers and is extremely easy to drink. I wish we had a bar staple that was this good. That said in comparison to some other things I have had, this is pretty plain jane.

Bottle. Thanks Rodgers. Nice amber pour with a medium off white head. Aroma of sweet malt and bread. Alittle hops underneath. Taste is very sweet and sticky, with lots of bread flavors.

This poured a bronze color with a big off white head. Aroma was really sweet, malty and biscuts with a grassy skunky undertone. Flavor was very sweet and malty upfront with a bit of a lager bittering finish. Not too great, but I can understand why this would be a huge hit with the BLue Moon crowd.

Decent stuff from New Belgium...almost, ALMOST has a hint of an ale from old Belgium. Nice amber color with an off-white head. Bready aroma with some yeast and lots of malt. Caramel malt flavors and some yeast. Very bready. Average palate. Usually shows up at places where the other choices are Buttweiser and the like - Fat Tire is the definite go-to on those occasions.

smells and tastes like a big chemical biscuit. probably the worst beer i can think of. would rather drink budweiser. just tastes like chemicals and strange bready flavors. the smell says the same. the color isn’t bad i’ll give it that. Its not even very easy to drink due to the biscuit thing. it would taste better if it were possible to somehow put butter and jam on this biscuit.

A very malty finish in your mouth but it has a nice bitter sweet finish that I kinda enjoyed. the only problem is that malty taste that lingers in your mouth.

This amber ale is malty and has a bitter finish. This beer is drinkable but not very smooth.
