Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

This amber ale is malty and has a bitter finish. This beer is drinkable but not very smooth.

This amber ale is lighter in color and flavor. It has a malty bitterness to it with a sharp crisp finish. This amber ale is drinkable but not my favorite amber. I like something with a little more flavor and a smooth finish.

"Medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, vinegar, paper napkin, amber, clear, aminimal head, white foam, woody, soy sauce, smoke, butterscotch, banana, vanilla, barnyard, dough, light body, sticky, lively, long finish." My first review so I used the ’ole standards. Honestly enjoyed the beer. It goes down easy, it’s fairly common/easy to find, damn good with a cigarette. Outside of that it’s got a good woodsy feel and taste about, unfortunately I probably wouldn’t take it camping with me. Not manly enough in taste. Actually the taste comes across as a bit contrived, less outdoorsman more mythical Narnia - with all the childish trappings. Love the bottle and pretty ornamental decorations. Ornamental decorations are what you need on a beer like this, it’s a statement. The beer is saying yeah I’m ornamental and maybe not as woodsy as I should be but that’s the taste. It’s unabashed and therefore just like a Blue Moon it’s a perfect guilty pleasure. Finally... I think I’ll have another. Hope this helped, and happy drinking! I look forward to writing more reviews and hopefully becoming more knowledgeable in the timeless are of beer guzzling. Cheers!

The pour has a clear amber color, with little head on glass. Aroma is biscuity with light hops. Taste has a toasty caramel flavor that lingers on palate. Overall it’s a drinkable Amber Ale, but I find this beer mediocre at best....

Pretty standard Amber. Good, for what it is worth. Some caramel and a little roast.

On tap at Chili’s in Coralville, IA. A standard Amber Ale. Good, but not great, drinkable but would not go out of my way to get it again.

Pale orange pour with nice fluffy white head. Toasted caramel malt with a little bit of a caramel sweetness to it. Highly carbonated and crisp... this has a nuttiness to it that makes it have some flavor yet it’s really easy to drink. It’s obviously nothing special but it’s the exact kind of beer that would springboard a non-craft beer drinker into drinking different kinds of beers other than the macrobrews.

Middle of the road beer, I have not seen it around the north east of the coutry. Found it in California. It does have a balanced flavor as many others have said, easy to drink. Bottle.
