Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

This beer just doesn’t work for me. Taste is hay, herbs, barnyard, woody and earthy. Like they are trying to force flavor into this beer. Aftertaste is of mold or rotten appeal. I am not quiet sure why people rave about this.

Got this off a friend of mine with connections in Denver - I’ve never seen it on the east coast. amber, hazy, with a big head after pouring that faded but left nice lacing on the glass. a nice flavor, with just a bit of a bitter aftertaste. overall not as good as i was expecting from the hype i had heard.

Good beer - very amder in colour and quite sweet and malty. Fairly bitter, but not a lot of hops and a tad flat.

This has been one I’ve been after for a while (not that its a difficult to find, but I don’t trade or venture off the east coast often), but several people have told me this would be their beer of choice for a keg party. It pours a very clear amber color with a nice white head. Malty cereal aroma with some nutty notes. Bitter roast flavor with lots of malt, balanced with a decent amount of hops to finish. Lives up to its hype. By no means an amazing or unique beer, but definitely a good session beer and something I’d have not problem sticking at an all night keg party.

Pours a relatively clear amber color with an extremely fluffy, slightly off-white head that lasts a while and leaves some nice lacing. I’ve had this beer before and I have liked it. Something is seriously wrong with this bottle. The aroma is a little malty, but there is a strange, dirty sock smell to it. Almost like a blue cheese. The flavor has the same kind of funk to it. There is a decent nutty character with a papery bitter and a toffee sweetness, but something is really just off. Thin body and really not very good at all. I really did like this at one point, but this is not good.

Pours brownish amber with a thin tan head. Smells of sweet malt, some earthy hints. Tastes sweet with a hint of tartness with an easy drinking finish.

A very well balanced brew. Nice malt character with bitter and flavorful hops. Easily can be drank over and over.
