Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

22oz bottle. Interesting how visceral of a reaction this one gets..love it or hate it seems to be the theme. Whatever. Filtered amber color, with a nice foamy head. Smooth and malty, with a mild amber kick. Pretty much a top-notch session beer. Very refreshing, medium to full bodied. A classic I suppose.

I was at a friend’s place and a gay Thai guy, who was drinking a Sapporo, happened to mention that Fat Tire was his favorite beer so I decided to try it. One $7.99+tax sixer later, I’m all, "Man, I shouldn’t have listened to that guy." It’s yet another example of someone opening a brewery and producing mediocre beer and then charging too much and getting away with it.

Pours a nice amber with decent head. Nutty, hoppy aroma. Very smooth, roasty and malty flavoring with hints of caramel. Overall, this is a nice tasting brew.

Pours a medium amber with a thick lucious off white head that lasts and coats the glass. Aroma is toasted malt and some spice as well as mild hop flower. Taste is sweet caramel malt along with a little licorice and spice. Not overly hoppy. Smooth, nutty; goes down easy yet is interesting enough.

Bought case at Sam’s club the price was right. Beet tastes like cardboard, bland aftertaste not much better than a bud.

Caramelly toasty aromas almost buttery. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head that disipates quickly. Very toasty malty flavor, with an almost crisp bite, finishes with creamy caramel.
